Joining forces for Hotel ROI

AAHOA and Hotel Management launch a series of one-day conferences.

Debuting in seven cities across the U.S. 2017, Hotel ROI is offered exclusively to hotel-industry professionals. It’s been designed to be a fresh, fast-paced series that is built to inform, inspire and give action to insights that can be implemented as soon as hoteliers return to the office. Hotel ROI is designed to both share insights and spark discussion on issues critical to hotel ownership, investment and development.

Today’s Hotelier talked with leadership from Hotel ROI to provide insight about what to expect from this exciting series.

Please tell us briefly about the partnership and expectations for 2017.
Hotel Management, a division of Questex Hospitality, and AAHOA are partnering on a campaign of information sharing and live events that focuses on optimizing hotel assets through innovative operations with the goal of increasing owner’s and investor’s ROI.

Hospitality is a complex business, and often we think of it only through the optics of real estate and not on the fundamentals and opportunities to create returns running a hotel.

One of the most appealing components of Hotel ROI is that the information provided is immediately applicable and actionable. What kind of takeaways can attendees expect?
We have structured the day-long program to reflect a hotel P&L with “above the GOP” topics on revenue, distribution, brand and pricing in the morning, followed by “below the GOP” topics of costs, taxes, labor, fees in the afternoon, and ending with a session on exit strategy with plenty of networking opportunities in between. Because we’re focusing on local markets – delegates are going to hear directly from experts and owners about their experiences in those MSAs – this will ensure we focus on information that’s relevant and applicable for our delegates.

Why did Hotel Management decide to partner with AAHOA on the Hotel ROI project?
First, we’ve got a great relationship with both AAHOA members and staff, and it’s an extremely effective group to work with. Second, we share similar goals in educating the hotel community for a smarter and more effective industry with a focus on aligning the interests of owners, operators and brands.

What type of hotelier will benefit most from Hotel ROI? Is it better suited to industry veterans, or would you encourage young hoteliers to attend?
All owners and investors want to increase returns from their hotel assets, so we’re seeing interest from all hoteliers. In conjunction with AAHOA, we are targeting second/third-generation hoteliers and new entrants to hotel investing, as we see a lot of interest for this type of innovative and buttoned-down conference as opposed to the existing multi-day events.

This is not a hotel investment 101 conference nor an event on how to manage your housekeeping – Hotel ROI is for serious investors on how to effectively manage their assets for increased returns.
