AAHOA statement on the South Carolina special election

WASHINGTON, June 20, 2017 – Asian American Hotel Owners Association President and CEO Chip Rogers released the following statement regarding the South Carolina special election in the 5th Congressional District:

“Congratulations to Ralph Norman on his successful election to Congress tonight. Hotel owners and AAHOA members in the district enjoyed a great relationship with Congressman Mulvaney, who was always a fighter for small businesses and for common-sense solutions to our country’s challenges. We know that Norman will do the same and we look forward to working with him to advance pro-hospitalityand pro-small business policies.”

Note: Former Republican state Rep. Ralph Norman, who resigned his seat to run for Congress, defeated the Democratic candidate Archie Parnell, a former attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, according to the Associated Press call of the race. Norman replaces former Republican Rep. Mick Mulvaney, who now heads up the White House Office of Management and Budget.

AAHOA is the largest hotel owners association in the world. The more than 16,000 AAHOA members own almost one in every two hotels in the United States.
