AAHOA members step up to aid those affected by Hurricane Harvey

Recognizing that the days and weeks ahead will be very difficult for all those impacted by hurricane Harvey, concerned hoteliers have been working this week throughout the Houston, Texas, region and other areas impacted by Hurricane Harvey to support those affected by the storm. In addition to offering complimentary lodging to those in need, AAHOA members are volunteering at nearby convention centers preparing food and packing boxes full of donated supplies, such as personal hygiene items and diapers.

Members of Surti Leuva Patidar Samaj of Dallas Fort Worth, including AAHOA member Jignesh Patel, came together to support the effort to assist victims of Hurricane Harvey. “Our whole community, particularly our youth and women groups, are passionate about helping those in need and as a result, they mobilized, purchased over $20,000 worth of needed supplies like hygiene products, diapers, antibacterial soap and underwear,” Patel said.

The volunteers also, in an effort to keep things organized, packed all the items in hundreds of boxes and labeled each one. “It just shows that Texans come together in times of need,” Patel said. “SLPS DFW is proud to be a part of this relief initiative.”
