WASHINGTON – Chip Rogers, president and CEO of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association, released the following statement in reaction to the president’s address on tax reform:
“The patience of the American people has run out. Tax relief and reform must happen now. Three decades of special interest handouts and complexities have left America’s job creators at a competitive disadvantage when compared to the rest of the world. Americans deserve a tax code that rewards investment, innovation and hard work. We should no longer suffer from the world’s highest corporate tax rate. Eliminating loopholes and special interest handouts will not only result in a fairer tax code but will also greatly cut what the nonpartisan Tax Foundation estimates to be $409 billion in annual tax compliance costs. The time for political nonsense should come to an end. Every member of Congress should dedicate themselves to fixing our broken tax system and can start by cutting the tax burden across the board for every taxpayer. We thank President Trump and Congressional leaders for prioritizing this critically important issue.”
