WASHINGTON, D.C., Mar. 16 — AAHOA president and CEO Chip Rogers released the
following statement regarding the end of the Florida General Assembly 2018 session:
“2018 is off to a great start in Florida thanks to the state legislators who demonstrated their
commitment to keeping the state’s hospitality industry competitive and prosperous. AAHOA
members applaud the preservation of funding for Visit Florida at its current level of $76 million.
For every dollar the state invests in Visit Florida, it sees a $2 return.
“Working with our partners at the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association, AAHOA members
implored their legislators to create a level playing field for hoteliers and short-term rental
commercial operators. AAHOA members sent nearly 2,800 letters to their representatives on this
important issue, and two bills that could have stifled competition were defeated. We look
forward to continued partnership with FRLA as we work to promote small business growth,
tourism, and hospitality in the Sunshine State.”
