AAHOA Statement on New CDC Mask Guidelines

AAHOA President & CEO Cecil P. Staton issued the following statement in response to new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines on masking and social distancing that ease requirements in most circumstances for fully vaccinated adults:

“America’s hoteliers welcome the new mask and social distance recommendations from the CDC for fully vaccinated adults. We are grateful for those who have done their part by getting vaccinated against COVID-19 and helping get our nation to this point. We encourage eligible Americans who are not yet vaccinated to do so as soon as possible. With new COVID-19 cases having dropped by 30 percent over the past two weeks, we are turning the corner to defeat this virus; however, just because the finish line is in view does not mean we can coast to victory. It is important that people continue to follow masking and distancing requirements where necessary and to promote vaccination. Through AAHOA’s Pledge to Protect, hoteliers affirmed their commitment to help tens of thousands of hospitality workers get vaccinated for their own wellbeing as well as that of their guests. We look forward to more Americans getting their jabs and for the number of new COVID-19 infections to continue to fall.”
