Stories of resilience in the wake of Hurricane Ian
AAHOA Platinum Industry Partner G6 Hospitality and the company’s team members have been doing their part in recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.
The ownership group Global Hotel Group – along with owner and operator Chirag Patel, himself an AAHOA Ambassador – was able to ensure his Motel 6 property was as safe as possible and ready to accommodate guests immediately when the storm passed through the area. After the storm, Chirag worked with local contractors to conduct repairs around the property, cut down trees, and remove all debris from the location. Thanks to his efforts, he had almost every room back in service within five days, ready to welcome guests.
Chirag’s story is just one of several accounts of heroism that emerged after the hurricane. Chad Rudani, manager of Motel 6 at the Englewood location, along with Owner Rakesh Patel, did not evacuate so they could keep guests as safe as possible. And, in the immediate wake of Hurricane Ian, G6 Hospitality’s Brand Performance team members Melissa Orosco, Bryan Schwab, and Richard Boose visited Motel 6 properties across the state to share necessities such as food, water, gas, batteries, and flashlights.
One of the highlights for Melissa Orosco, vice president of brand performance, was the time she spent with hotel guest Daya Rupa Rudani.
“This young girl was truly a prayer warrior, said Orosco. “Her resilience and positivity were inspiring. I feel humbled that our team was able to bring her and her family comfort during a time of stress and uncertainty.”
