WASHINGTON, DC., Apr. 10 – AAHOA President and CEO Chip Rogers issued the following
statement in response to Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin signing HB 1012XX, a repeal of the
$5 lodging tax that was included in a package of revenue generating measures signed into law
last month:

“Today, the voices of Oklahoma’s hoteliers were heard loud and clear in Oklahoma City. The
decision to repeal the lodging tax demonstrates a commitment to keep travel and tourism dollars
in Oklahoma by keeping the state’s lodging rates competitive. AAHOA members salute the
Oklahoma Hotel and Lodging Association’s and the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association’s
vital work in helping to organize this lodging tax’s defeat. Hundreds of AAHOA members
called, wrote to, and met with their state legislators to let them know the harmful effects of this
arbitrary tax. Its demise is a crystal-clear demonstration of what can happen when we work
together to speak with one voice on behalf of our industry and of our guests.”
