ATLANTA, Ga., May 10 – AAHOA Interim President and CEO Rachel Humphrey issued the following statement on National Small Business Week, which runs May 5th – 11th:
“As we celebrate National Small Business Week, it is important to highlight that most of our nation’s hoteliers are, in fact, small business owners. Over 80 percent of AAHOA members own franchised hotels, but, while the sign on the building maybe a national brand, those properties are independently owned and operated small businesses.
“Hoteliers, whether they own franchised or independent properties, are vital contributors to the economy, and AAHOA members are responsible for over 600,000 good-paying jobs in the hospitality industry. Many hotel owners got their start working the same types of jobs that they now create in communities across the country. By creating jobs with clear pathways for advancement and professional development, America’s hoteliers are planting the seeds of entrepreneurship that will keep our economy growing.”
