NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), the world’s leading certification body for healthy buildings, today announced the establishment of the WELL Advisory for Hotels and Resorts to provide insights on the application of the WELL Health-Safety Rating for Facilities Operations and Management for hotels and resorts. The WELL Health-Safety Rating is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating focused on operational policies, maintenance protocols and emergency plans to address a post COVID-19 environment. IWBI will accept registrations for the WELL Health-Safety Rating from all building and facility typologies later this month.

“This is an opportunity for property owners and operators to extend their work with third-party documentation review, which is a critical step in verifying the adoption of these practices.”

Leveraging guidance on the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory disease developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Department of Health and Human Services pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), leading academic and research institutions, best practices established by industry organizations, insights drawn from the IWBI COVID-19 Task Force, and core principles already established by IWBI’s WELL Building Standard, the WELL Health-Safety Rating provides a centralized source and governing body to validate efforts made by owners and operators through third-party document review and verification.

WELL Advisory Members:

Starwood Capital Group, Cody Bradshaw, Managing Director, Global Head of Hotel Asset Management
