On Wednesday, June 22, The Hotel Modern on St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans sold to Hawkeye Hotels, based in Iowa City, Iowa. Ravi Patel, president and principal of Hawkeye Hotels, plans to “completely renovate” the hotel. The 135-room hotel will reopen as an InterContinental-branded hotel once the renovations are complete.
“We’re community developers, and we have plans for a robust upgrade of this property that will fit into the existing culture and community of the area,” Patel said in a news release. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to own and manage such an iconic hotel in New Orleans,” he said. “We look forward to bringing our operational and development expertise to this property to further enhance the overall experience for future guests.”
Hawkeye Hotels owns and operates more than 70 hotels in the U.S. and has affiliations with major hotel brands, including Marriott, Hilton, InterContinental and Starwood.
